On the 18th of April we drove down to Cambridge to photograph Katherine + Daniel’s wedding at Sarnia Park. We were glad we were shooting somewhere with the most lavish indoor spaces you could ask for… as it seemed the rain, which was by this point heavy, was not going to disappear anytime soon. We couldn’t help but remember the day it rained over on Waiheke Island, when we photographed Daniel’s sister Clare get married (to another Daniel no less!). Thankfully, they didn’t let it dampen their spirits and we had a brilliant day documenting their wedding.
Sarnia Park is an incredible venue, with gorgeous interior spaces which provided wonderful backdrops for the bride and groom getting ready, and due to the weather, their ceremony too. We did a first look with the pair on the stairs, and it was a special moment as they finally saw each other for the first time on their wedding day. Getting the bridal party photos done beforehand was perfect on this day, as it meant we could take full advantage of the rooms inside Sarnia Park, and also meant they were a little more relaxed going into the ceremony. It also meant they could enjoy mingling with their guests for longer without rushing away to do photos. We did steal them for a moment though, as we’d noticed the rain had briefly subsided and we were desperate to take advantage of the beautiful autumn coloured trees on site at Sarnia. Katherine + Daniel willingly obliged, so we zoomed out for a super quick few photos, and we’re so glad we did! Congrats again Katherine + Daniel!
