Sonaly & Richard

Sonaly and Richard own the local cafe Voila, down the road from our studio.

We were in there having lunch one day and Sonaly announced that we were her wedding photographers – cool! For her 600 guests….. um what?! OK!

Our day started at 7AM at Sonaly & Richard’s house in Manurewa – they live next door to Richard’s parents house, which had been decorated for the traditional Chinese tea ceremony, and had a huge lot of tables and chairs and a chef making everyone brunch – yum!

The hair and makeup artists were busy at work, and the kids were happy chilling in the lounge – it was an amazing mix of busyness and calm with everyone pitching in to get everyone ready.

The boys looked amazing in their suits from Suits on Broadway.

After playing games trying to get Sonaly to come out of the ‘room’, they started their tea ceremony, with family giving gifts and well wishes – it was amazing!

Then it was back to the makeup chair for Sonaly to change her hair, makeup and dress, and get ready for their wedding ceremony. We headed out to the Pullman Hotel in the city who did a fantastic job – it was an incredibly bright day, not a cloud in the sky! After making their promises to each other, they released doves – so beautiful!

After family groupings, we headed down the road to Albert Park for some photos, and made our way back to the Pullman, stopping outside the Northern Club for more photos.

Sonaly changed her hair and makeup again, and put on this GORGEOUS necklace that covered her shoulders – AMAZING! (i want one!)

They greeted their 600 guests at the entrance to the reception, and then kicked off the evening with a five course meal and amazing speeches.

Their INCREDIBLE cake was made by the insanely talented Vanessa from Bella Cupcakes. Vanessa – you are AMAZING!

They did their amazing first dance, and they surprised us all with Gangnam Style – how cool!

We left them at about 10.30pm, after Sonaly had changed into her dancing dress, and she and Richard carved up the dance floor until the wee hours! A little birdie told me that Richard ended up with an unusual haircut, but that’s all in the fun of the wedding day!

Enjoy the highlights of 15 and a half hours of AMAZING!

Congratulations Sonaly & Richard!
